Mitochondrial Matrix: Artist Residency and Exhibit

A design collaboration between artists and scientists aiming to raise awareness and promote understanding of mitochondrial disease. The work
focused on symbiosis as an integral part of human development and human dependence on complex and fragile biomes.

The creative work utilizes traditional and experimental fabrication techniques with clay to create a three-dimensional installation that illustrates variation and incremental changes that occur within the body. The exhibit consisted of 300 3D-printed ceramic objects that were individually glazed to showcase variation. The work was accompanied by a video installation showcasing the relationship between the object and the human body.
