BIO-BAROQUE
CULTURE AND IDENTITY OF THE BIO-DIGITAL AGE
This studio explored the evolving role of ornamentation in architecture, examining its historical, cultural, and ecological significance while reimagining it for sustainable design. Central to this was mycelium, a living material, integrated with traditional craftsmanship, digital technology, and bio-design. Students engaged in hands-on experimentation, growing and casting mycelium-based components, creating ornamental modules, and exploring sustainable construction methods. Through this, they developed practical skills and an understanding of material behavior and fabrication techniques.
The studio emphasized the integration of ornamentation, living materials, and sustainable design, inspiring a new architectural language that bridges historical insights with innovation to address global challenges.
